Mondax Cup nets P83K

THE two-day First Mondax Football Cup generated P83,390 from different supporters in a bid to help ailing journalist and dialysis patient Ramon Dacawi.

Igorot karateka champion Julian Chees, now based in Germany were among the few good samaritans who immediately answered the call by chipping in P60,000 in the two-day football for a cause.

Other donors include Diamond Bank through Peter Rey Bautista (P2,000); Atty. Nicasio Aliping (P1,000); Kenneth So (P 2,000); Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan (P5,000) and Koord Holdings through Atty. Alexander Bangsoy (P5,000) including tournament fees which reached P8,390.

The proceeds were turned over by the Cordilleran Binnadang Football Club (CBFC) coaches to Dacawi, a retired City Hall Information Officer, athletes’ advocate, environmentalist and helper of the needy; Invinzor Silva, a rectal adenocarcinoma patient and Jacqueline Eslao Tailan, a lymphoma patient.

Silva and Tailan are parents of two Cordillera Binnadang FC football players from Baguio National High School.

Even with his constant dialysis needs, Mondax, as he is fondly called by peers still shared P 20,000 from the P60,000 to a taxi driver who has an immediate dialysis need. He also shared an additional P10,000 each to parent beneficiaries of the tournament — Silva and Eslao from the funds Chees gave.

CBFC stormed the 1st Mondax Football Cup by topping four categories during the two-day fundraiser event.

A’s Brothers stole the limelight by bagging the championship in the men’s open category with Daddy FC placing second as Real FC and Bontoc FC settled for third and fourth, respectively.

In the ladies open, Ate’s FC edged Cordilleran Binnadang FC for the title with Cinderella and Bontoc FC settling for third and fourth place while Saint Tonis College Inc took home the title in the 17 under boys division.
