FOLLOWING the successful First Iloilo City Trade Mission and Investment Forum in United States (US), Mayor Jose Espinosa III is positive it will attract more investors to the metropolis.

Espinosa and First Lady Gina led a delegation of City Hall officials, business, fashion, and academe representatives to the series of fora in New York City; Fairfax, Virginia; and Washington D.C June 1 to 9.

“The Business Forum was attended by businessmen and fellow Filipinos who want to re-invest in the city. We also presented jewelry and fashion shows. I am hopeful that they will soon give back home,” Espinosa said.

“They asked us about the peace and order situation, and I told them Iloilo is one of the peaceful cities in the country. We are a walkable city, our plazas are well-lighted at night. We have improved public utilities like transportation, and enough power supply. We are addressing water supply. We also have modern hospital facilities. We have booming real estate for those who want to retire here,” Espinosa said.

Espinosa pitched for the city’s tourism potentials coupled with the province’s food production opportunities.

He also highlighted the 27,000 to 30,000 graduates annually as big pool of manpower.

Espinosa promoted the city as a major destination which will further boost with the upcoming construction of Iloilo-Guimaras-Negros Bridge.

The mayor joined the Independence Day celebration in New York with Dinagyang dancers performing during the parade and cultural presentation. (PR)
