THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental–South yesterday, June 19, installed 47 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Hinigaran town, covering an awarded land of almost 141 hectares under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

The land was previously owned by Ramon Silverio located at Sitio Silverio in Barangay Pilar.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Emma Annabelle Delmoro, in a press statement, said the land was covered by CARP in 2012 through Compulsory Acquisition. The installation completed the acquisition and distribution (AAD) process.

Delmoro reminded ARBs or farmers to cultivate and protect their land as she assured them that the agency will continue to extend support as mandated by Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones.

“We appeal to the newly-installed farmers to refrain from committing acts prohibited by existing agrarian laws and guidelines such as illegal sale, lease, transfer and any conveyance of awarded land since it would be a ground for disqualification from the program,” she added.

The installation ceremony was also attended by personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office headed by Police Chief Inspector Lewell Garinganao and Hinigaran Municipal Police Station headed by Chief Inspector Jake Barila. (EPN)
