Mayor’s daughter, ex-wife abducted in Sulu

ALLEGED members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have seized two people, including an ex-wife and daughter of a former mayor, in Sulu province, a military official said Wednesday, June 20.

Lieutenant Colonel Gerry Besana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, identified the victims as Addang Tulawie and her daughter, Edelyn.

Addang is the ex-wife while Edelyn is the daughter of former Talipao Mayor Tambrin Tulawie, whose son Nebukadnezar, is the town’s incumbent mayor.

Besana said the victims were in deep slumber when the members of the ASG barged in and seized them from their residence around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday in the boundaries of Kandaga and Kuhar villages in Talipao town.

The Westmincom official said the ASG bandits took the victims to the village of Simumaan, Talipao.

He said the members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team in coordination with the Army’s 501st Infantry Brigade have launched pursuit operation in a bid to rescue the victims.

The abduction of the two has brought the number of hostages in the hands of the ASG to 11 people.

Of the total, five are foreigners--three Indonesians, one Vietnamese and one Dutch. The remaining six are Filipinos. (SunStar Philippines)
