A MAN and his son died after they were hit by a Kia Rio hatchback at Buri Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City Wednesday morning, June 20.

Killed were Dante Lascunia, 44, and his son Randel, 6, both residents of Purok Carmencita, in the said village.

Investigation showed that the two victims just came from their house past 5 a.m. to get bananas which they will sell.

Dante was driving a pedicab with his son and was about to cross the road when the speeding car driven by an unidentified female driver overtook another car and collided with them.

Dante was dragged by the car while his son was thrown away at the gutter with the pedicab.

Both succumbed to head injuries.

The car stopped for a while but the driver fled and left the victims.

Police recovered from the scene broken parts of the car and its temporary plate number.

The damaged car was traced through the witnesses at the area of the accident.

However, the driver just left the car at her sister's house in a residential village at the said barangay.

As of 5 p.m. yesterday, the driver has yet to surface.

She will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide and damage to properties.

Meanwhile, Veronica Lascunia, Dante's wife, in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, is asking the female driver to surrender to the authorities as soon as possible to give justice to the deaths of her loved ones.
