Angeles City barangay execs take oath of office

ANGELES CITY -- Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led the newly-elected and re-elected Punong Barangay and Barangay Officials on their oath-taking rites held last Wednesday at the New Rib-Eye Function Hall here.

Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno welcomed the officials to the ceremony organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Officials who took oath were proclaimed winners after the joint Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections that took place last May 14.

DILG-Angeles City Director Martin Porres Moral introduced the 15 re-elected and 18 newly-elected barangay captains.

Majority of the elected barangay chairmen in the 33 barangays of the city attended the event.

Pamintuan urged the elected barangay leaders to avoid political division and instead focus on cooperation for the benefit of all Angeleños.

“We should always remember that the voice of the people is the voice of God, the welfare of the people is the supreme law,” the mayor said assuring that the local government is more than ready for the initiatives of these elected leaders.

The re-elected barangay captains of Angeles City include Judy Susan of Barangay Agapito Del Rosario, Cecilia Nepomuceno of Barangay Cutcut, Alfred Bulaun of Barangay Lourdes Sur East, Reynaldo Gueco of Barangay Malabanias, Jose Bagang of Barangay Margot, Cristano Cortez of Mining, Luis De Luna of Barangay Pampang, Jeremias Alejandrino of Barangay Pandan, Bernardo Santos of Barangay Pulungbulu, Harry Castro of Barangay San Jose, Amelia Torres of Barangay San Nicolas, Marino Banola of Sta. Teresita, Danilo Nacu of Sta. Trinidad, Alma Mercado of Barangay Tabun, and Ronald Diangson of Barangay Virgin Delos Remedios.

Meanwhile, the newly-elected village chiefs are Ronnie Dela Cruz Rogando of Barangay Amsic, Augusto L. Flores of Barangay Anunas, Carmelo F. Lazatin of Barangay Balibago, Rafael Bondoc of Barangay Capaya, Alexander De Guzman of Claro M. Recto, Rufino Candelaria of Barangay Cuayan, Joen Jun Ferraris of Barangay Cutud, Andres Tan of Lourdes North West, Bernard Dayrit of Barangay Lourdes Sur, Ricardo Dizon of Barangay Ninoy Aquino, Francisco Cura of Barangay Pulung Cacutud, Armando Oliveros of Barangay Pulung Maragul, Alberto Fajardo of Barangay Salapungan, Lourdes Manansala of Barangay Sto. Cristo, Oliver Chaneco of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Renato Cosme of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Angelito Timbol of Barangay Sapalibutad, Edwin Flores of Barangay Sapangbato.

Chapter 3, Section 389 of the Local Government Code of the Philippines lists the powers and functions of the punong barangays.

Barangay leaders are mandated to enforce all laws and ordinances which are applicable within the respective barangay, maintain its public order, and assist the city or municipal mayor and the council members in the performance of their duties and functions.

All barangay officials will officially start their tenure of office on July 1, 2018.
