THE eighth edition of the St. Ignatius Run has been set on July 22 at the SM Seaside.

The Sacred Heart School - Ateneo de Cebu Alumni for Boys Class Batch 1993 will be this year’s host for the annual run as it will be part of the batch’s silver jubilee celebration. The run itself is the opening salvo of the school’s annual alumni homecoming.

The St. Ignatius Run is open to all running enthusiasts. It features the 1-kilometer, 3K, 6K, 12K and 21K runs.

The starting point will be at SM City Cebu North Reclamation Area.

Proceeds of the run will be used to assist the alumni association and Batch 1993 for its outreach and charity projects such as the medical missions, feeding programs and the donation of exercise equipment for the Seniors Park and Children’s Playground in Mandaue City and other donations which is done annually.

Over P50,000 in total cash prizes and plaques are in store for the winners. All finishers for the 12K and 21K will receive medals, according to Batch 1993 President Reagan King. There will also be raffle prizers for all the runners.

“I think what makes this year’s run different, aside from the prizes, is our theme, Celebrate Life, because we really want to share the message of health and wellness; bringing families and companies together so this is not just for individual runners because it’s really our goal to increase the number of runners. That’s one of the things that we would like to achieve this year,” one of the members of the Run Committee, Adrian Ding, said.

He also highlighted that most importantly, this Run really is a fund raiser because everything that is made out of this race goes to their projects.

Each participant will get a singlet, race shirt, route map, freebies, and snacks as part of the registration. (Minsey Lumangyao, CNU Intern)
