AN ESTIMATED P1.02 million worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was seized in a drug bust at Charito Heights, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, Thursday night.

Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, assistant team leader of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), identified the suspect as Myla Velano, a newly-identified drug personality, and a high-value target.

Police raided Velano's house around 8:30 p.m. and recovered from her 17 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 85 grams, weighing scale, and the P2,000 marked money.

Albaytar said they were supposed to conduct the operation last Wednesday but Velano refused to transact with them.

The items just arrived Thursday, but she was able to dispose of some of the items earlier that day, he added.

Albaytar said her two siblings were also previously arrested for the same offense.

The operation was conducted after police received complaints from the community regarding Velano's drug trade.

Albaytar said Velano has been engaging in the illegal drug trade for one and a half years.

Velano distributes the contraband in Bacolod and neighboring cities of Talisay and Silay, Albaytar said.

He also said that the suspect gets her items through her husband's contact.

Her husband is imprisoned at New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City for more than five years also for drug charges.

Albaytar, however, said that they are still verifying if the items are being sourced out inside the national penitentiary.

Velano is detained at Police Station 5.

She will be charged with sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
