Globe urges Negrenses to promote volunteerism

TELECOMMUNICATIONS firm Globe Telecom is urging Negrenses to help promote volunteerism among Filipinos.

Globe, in a media briefing at 21 Bar and Restaurant in Bacolod City, introduced its nationwide volunteerism program in the province.

In collaboration with The Walt Disney, the program dubbed "Time Please" encourages and empowers Filipinos including companies, organizations, employees, and families, among others, to come up with volunteer activities or participate in existing programs.

The company said, "Time Please" supports the telco's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

It appeals to the Filipino strong culture of volunteerism rooted in the "bayanihan" spirit to collectively contribute to social development, it added.

Through the matching portal www.timeplease.ph, the program strives to match individuals or groups of volunteers with various volunteering opportunities in the country.

Companies and groups with existing volunteer initiatives can also enlist their activities in the said platform and get their volunteer hours registered in the program.

Globe Telecom President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest Cu, in a press statement, said they look at "Time Please" as a measure to extend the firm's purpose-led culture to its customers.

"With the help of technology, we wish to make volunteerism more accessible to many Filipinos," Cu said, adding that "we are making it easier for our partners and customers to contribute to nation building."

Moreover, through any device with online access, the public can now sign up for free and form groups to join volunteer activities enrolled in "Time Please."

The program will run from May 25 to August 19 this year. It is open to individuals willing and capable to do volunteer work.

Each group should have a minimum of two and maximum of four members. They should also nominate a team leader who is at least 18 years old with an active Globe or TM number to register the group.

The group with the most number of volunteer hour credits at the end of the program will win an all-expense paid trip for four to Hong Kong Disney Land.
