LAGUNA is the province of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, who was born on 19th of June. It’s just a few hours from the National Capital Region, which is why many people working in Metro Manila even go home daily to Laguna, traversing the South Superhighway.

This progressive province has many attractions that travelers will find interesting. There are historical landmarks, natural attractions and artful destinations that you won’t get enough exploring Laguna. Here are a few tourist spots for you where you can begin your adventure.

1. Rizal Shrine

One of the most popular destinations in Laguna is Rizal’s home in Calamba. I have visited his house during one of my field trips in college, and it was interesting to see how his family lived during his time. Traces of his past give us a glimpse of his early years, particularly his childhood. The shrine has undergone some renovations.

2. Pagsanjan Falls

Many people go to Pagsanjan Falls to cool off or enjoy its strong rapids. Visitors ride a bamboo raft to get close to the waterfalls. It is one of the popular tourist attractions in Laguna and among the closest waterfalls for those coming from Metro Manila.

3. Enchanted Kingdom

The Enchanted Kingdom is a famous theme park in Sta. Rosa, Laguna that appeals to children and kids at heart. There are many rides, attractions, and performances inside the theme park. This recreation destination is considered as the first world-class theme park in the country.

4. Laguna de Bay

The largest lake in the Philippines is Laguna de Bay. It is a source of life for many of our fellow Filipinos. Traversing the towns around the lake is an adventure in itself. There are environmental concerns with regards to Laguna de Bay, which is connected by Pasig River to Manila Bay. Environmental programs are being put in place to protect and preserve the lake. But what also makes Laguna a favorite choice among families are the many pool resorts scattered around the province.

5. UP Los Baños

The Los Baños campus of the University of the Philippines is a jump-off point for those who want to get up close with nature and explore the Makiling Botanical Gardens. It’s a conducive place for learning, especially with the scenic mountain as its backdrop.

In fact, Laguna can be a trekker’s paradise because of the many mountains in the area. Newbie mountaineers have a number of choices in Laguna for starters. Apart from the natural attractions in the province, there are also several eateries, such as the PatisTito Garden Café in San Pablo City.

For those who want to go on a road trip, even for a day, Laguna is a good choice to enjoy the countryside. It’s close proximity to the metropolis makes it even more ideal to see new places and enjoy nature.
