Traffic Office: Park properly or risk consequence

AS HEAVY traffic continues to irk Dabawenyos, the Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTMMO) encouraged drivers to park responsibly or be apprehended.

CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said during a press forum that they have already apprehended several violators who violated the existing city ordinance, which prohibits vehicles from parking along national highways.

"It's highly prohibited by the national highway. Most of the drivers' excuse would be they were ignorant because they have not seen any signages but you do not need a No Parking signage, National Highway has always been off limits (to parking)," Abude said.

He also noted that there were trucks in Barangay Sasa, Panacan, and Tibungco that occupies the road shoulders and even parts of the carriageway of the national highway, congesting traffic.

He said that they will further intensify their enforcement and the implementation of the Traffic Code.

Meanwhile, the Traffic Chief mentioned they would recommend construction of more pedestrian overpasses especially along Mc Arthur Highway near Mapua College and in front of Abreeza.
