6 arrested in anti-drug operations

SIX people were arrested, while some P85,200 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, June 22.

Arrested were Timhar Hadjirul 43; Rickson Askalani, 43; Aiken Musa, 54; Jerry Calinacion, 29; Ahmed Khan Yasir, 27; and Hussin Saibaddin, 44.

Senior Inspector Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, said Hadjirul and Askalani were arrested in a drug bust around 6:45 p.m. of June 21 at Bukang Liwayway Drive in the village of San Jose Gusu.

Recovered from them were suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P80,000 that was packed in seven heat-sealed plastic sachets, and P5,500 marked money consisting of five P1,000 bogus bills and five P100 bills.

Chang said that Musa yielded P1,300 worth of shabu packed in four sachets and P200 marked money when arrested in a drug bust around 2:30 p.m. of June 21 in Purok 2, Barangay Recodo.

Calinacion, a construction worker, was arrested in another drug bust around 9 p.m. of June 21 in Purok 4 in the village of Sta. Catalina.

Seized from Calinacion were P1,300 worth of shabu packed in two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, P300 marked money consisting of three P100 bills, and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Yasir and Saibaddin, a factory worker and a massage therapist, respectively, yielded P2,600 worth of shabu when arrested also in a drug bust around 6:45 p.m. of June 21 in Purok 6 in the village of Recodo.

Also confiscated from them were P200 marked money consisting of four P50 bills and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Chang said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Philippines)
