ACWD asked to coordinate projects with village execs

A COUNCILMAN in Barangay Sapang Bato in Angeles City appealed to the management of the Angeles City Water District (ACWD) to coordinate with village officials in the implementation of its projects.

Councilman Ricardo Bong Lansangan issued the statement in reaction to reports that the ACWD already restored the water supply in the area.

The barangay suffered from water shortage when the utility constructed a P10-million water pumping station from February to June this year. The project was completed on June 10.

The barangay official lamented that about 2,000 residents in Purok 6 are still experiencing water shortage despite the completion of the project.

According to Lansangan, they are still experiencing intermittent water supply interruption.

“We are just wondering why our water service does not reach 24 hours,” he told SunStar Pampanga.

He also urged the ACWD, headed by its general manager Reynaldo Liwanag, to tell the real situation in their village.

Liwanag earlier announced that the ACWD has already solved the water crisis in the area following the completion and commissioning of the pumping station with a capacity of 12 liters per second which can supply more than 1,000 households.

ACWD has been procuring bulk water from the Clark Water to provide water supply in Barangays Sapang Bato and Margot.

But the reduction by half of water supply coming from the water facility in Clark last February resulted in water shortage in the two villages. More than 20,000 residents were affected.

The ACWD also constructed a separate pumping station in Barangay Margot which was commissioned last month.

Liwanag said the two pumps can provide water supply to more than 2,800 concessionaires in Margot and Sapang Bato.

He said that the ACWD spent around P20 million for the construction of the two pumping stations.

Four months ago, the Angeles City council declared a state of calamity in the two barangays following the water crisis.

Liwanag assured the city council that their pumping station projects will be completed and the water supply will be restored in the area in four months.
