HONG KONG continues to welcome Filipinos as one of its top tourist arrivals. If Victoria Peak, Disneyland and the giant Buddha have all been ticked off your to-do list, but you’re still looking for new reasons to go back, Kowloon Shangri-La has several delightful offers beyond the usual Hong Kong experience.

Kowloon Shangri-La officers, including general manager Philip Dewar and sales and marketing director Sonny Ang, connected with media friends here to share those offers. Two long dinner tables were beautifully set with a chic beachside theme perfect for the Ocean Pavilion of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa. On the menu were a colorful salad of asparagus tips, beetroot and strawberries; mushroom and quinoa consommé with wakame, enoki, and steamed grouper; US beef tenderloin with mashed truffle, onion shavings and red wine sauce; and last, a Chocolate Garden Variation creatively presented in a glass globe, topped with a chocolate disc and ice cream.

For those who want to know Hong Kong’s stories beyond the usual commercial tours, the hotel’s Cultural Tourism package will take guests on a walk past Tsim Sha Tsui’s cultural treasures, such as the city’s oldest military facility, Kowloon’s first Catholic church, and the primary school that Bruce Lee attended. For those traveling with their little ones, the Family Package offers a fun room setup complete with a mini tent full of games and toys, and child-friendly amenities down to a character toothbrush.

This month, the hotel is also offering a luxurious high tea experience to celebrate its 37th anniversary. The elegant display on a four-tiered golden birdcage includes crunchy baby radish with butter and pink peppercorn, Balik-style salmon on blini, and a specially crafted homemade jam of raspberry, sakura and champagne to go with the scones. Guests can opt to enhance the experience further with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé, in honor of the 200th anniversary of the first rosé blended by Madame Clicquot. Imagine savoring all these in Kowloon Shangri-La’s grand two-storey lobby with stunning views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Island skyline. Doesn’t it make you want to book a plane ticket, pronto?
