PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, June 22, lambasted "stupid" God for His "perfect" creation that was eventually flawed because He had also sown the seeds of "temptation and destruction of His quality of work."

Duterte, who claims to be a believer of God but not of religion, took a jab at the faulty creation story in the Bible, specifically when the "foolish" snake tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit and also offer it to Adam.

"So Adam ate it. Then malice was born," the President said in a speech delivered in Davao City.

"Who is this stupid God? Estupido talaga itong p***** i** kung ganoon. You created something perfect and then you think of an event that would tempt and destroy the quality of your work? How can you rationalize a God? Maniwala ka?" he added.

(Who is this stupid God? This son of a b**** is really stupid, if that's the case. You created something perfect and then you think of an event that would tempt and destroy the quality of your work? How can you ratiinalize a God? Would you believe Him?)

Duterte's tirades came after he repeatedly slammed the Catholic Church in his recent speeches for asking him to tone down his remarks against the priests.

Duterte has been badmouthing the Catholic Church leaders, especially the bishops who have criticized the supposed extra-judicial killings attributed to his brutal crackdown on illegal drugs.

This time, the President went further when he said God was "lonely," a reason for Him to create paradise.

"And God was lonely, who is... And there was nobody to please Him. Ngayon ko lang nalaman na ang God, ma-lonely pala. Buti na lang, walang babae sa tabi siguro," Duterte said.

(And God was lonely, who is... And there was nobody to please Him. It is now that I only realize that God is lonely. Perhaps, there's no woman beside Him.)

"God was lonely. Then He created paradise and that's the planet earth, okay? And He saw the paradise, the product of His industry was beautiful -- birds, fish, lahat. Tapos, and so God said, 'I will create man,'" he added.

(God was lonely. Then He created paradise and that's the planet earth, okay? And He saw the paradise, the product of His industry was beautiful -- birds, fish, everything. Afterwards, and so God said, "I will create man.")

Duterte said he could not picture Him "as a human being in the image of God."

He also took potshots at God for allowing His creation -- the people -- to be born "with an original sin."

"So tayo ngayon, all of us are born with an original sin. Ang original sin, ano man 'yan? Was it the first kiss? What was the sin? Bakit original? Nasa womb ka pa, may kasalanan ka na," Duterte said.

(So now, all of us are born with an original sin. What is that original sin? Was it the first kiss? What was the sin? Why was it original? Because you already have a sin while you're still at the womb of your mother.)

"C***-c**** man lang 'yun ng nanay pati tatay mo. Wala ka mang kasali. Tapos ngayon, may original sin ka. T*** i**** klase. Anong klaseng relihiyon iyan? 'Yan ang hindi ko matanggap. Very stupid proposition," he added.

(Your mother and father had a sexual intercourse. You're not involved there. And now, you have an original sin. Son of a b****, what kind of [sin is that?] What kind of religion is that? That's why I can't accept. Very stupid proposition.)

Duterte also criticized the crucifix showing Jesus Christ on the cross.

He believed that the public should move on from a "sad thing about the killing of our God" and forget Jesus Christ's "sacrifice."

"Nandoon na 'yung si Jesus, naka-pako na. Hanggang ngayon, naka-pako pa rin. Imbes kalimutan na natin ang sakripisyo niya, every year, ipaalala mo tuloy 'yung kastigo niya is...," he said, drawing laughter from his audience.

(Jesus was crucified. Until now, he is crucified. Instead of forgetting his sacrifice, every year, we continue to remember that his castigation is...)

"Why do you have to remember a sad thing about the killing of our God? Ako ang Diyos, gawain mo sa akin 'yan? Ay, p***** i**, para kang karne norte if you do that. I am God and you...," Duterte added.

(Why do you have to remember a sad thing about the killing of our God? If I were God and you do that, son of a b****, I look like karne norte if you do that. I am God and you...) (SunStar Philippines)
