Mambukal Resort, videoke and loud noise that disturb a place of beauty

MAMBUKAL is a wonderful resort - a place of beauty, adventure and comfort, a place to go to experience quiet, wellness, relaxation and nature.

Yet, there are also loud noises made by few individuals that disturb a lot of people who want quiet and serenity, the purpose why they go to Mambukal in the first place.

Recently, my prominent architect friend from Bacolod, a mild-mannered and genial fellow, ranted in his Facebook account and wrote

“Management of Mambucal Mountain Resort should consider banning videoke machines inside its premises. People go there to rest and commune with nature, not to be bombarded with the voices of tone-deaf and off-key wanna-be-singers.”

A few weeks ago, my two friends from Makati went to Mambukal upon my recommendation. Since it was their first time to visit the place, I told them to stay overnight, and so they rented an LGU cottage.

In the cottages opposite and adjacent to theirs were a group of yuppies who were “enjoying” the night, drinking, laughing boisterously, talking loudly, until the wee hours of the morning.

My two friends obviously were not able to sleep, and their beautiful memories of Mambukal was marred by this bad experience.

Months ago, my family and I had an overnight stay in a family cottage overlooking the boating lagoon.

At night, in another family cottage nearby, there were about 15 people who had a party outside, with videoke, from 9 in the evening to 3 o’clock in the morning.

We could not sleep, of course.

For three times, we gently requested these party people to tone down the volume of their videoke and loud conversation, to no avail, since most of them were already drunk. Some of them even commented that we were “killjoy” because they told us that they had the right to enjoy the night.

Certainly, they were not aware that people in the neighboring cottage had also the right to silence and sleep since it was already past 12 midnight.

We decided to go out to look for the security guards to complain. But then it was impractical to go far from our family cottage because the place was dark.

It seems the management of Mambukal Resort has no policy or rules about the noise and videoke singing at nighttime, especially for the occupants of the cottages. Or if there are policies, the same are not enforced.

There was peace, but no order. There was order, but no peace.

For this reason, this is a constructive feedback for the resort management to have policies and rules and to strictly enforce them, for the welfare of all the visitors. A few of these policies and rules can be:

1). Guests must maintain peace and serenity within the resort at all times.

2). Videoke, sound system and /or other devices emitting disturbing noise in the cottages are prohibited.

3). Quiet hours in the cottages must be 11 in the evening to 7 in the morning.

The resort management must inform guests upon their check-in of the policies and rules, and that management has the right to confiscate videoke and/or other sound system device, and only return it after their check-out.

At night time, there must be roving security guards who monitor videoke singing or loud noises and to strictly enforce resort policies and rules.

The contact numbers of management and security guards must be placed inside the cottages, for complaints and/or request for assistance.

Mambukal is a wonderful resort, where people can go to relax, make their stay a play-day, no stress, no anxiety and worries. Let’s keep it that way.
