230 fire victims receive relief aid

THE Philippine Red Cross-Zamboanga chapter has distributed relief aid to fire victims that hit a west coast village on Monday, June 18, in Zamboanga City.

The beneficiaries of the relief aid were the 22 families consisting of 230 dependents who were displaced by the June 18 fire incident in the village of Jose Gusu.

PRC Governor and 1st district Rep. Celso Lobregat and Joseline Fernandez, PRC-Zamboanga chapter administrator led the distribution of the relief goods held Saturday, June 23, at the old village hall of San Jose Gusu.

The relief goods included the following: mosquito nets, sleeping mats, blankets, personal hygiene kits, canned goods, and rice. The children were also feted with ice cream.

Lobregat said the Red Cross knows no boundaries in extending relief assistance to victims of all man-made or natural calamities in this city. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
