All set for voters’ registration in Zamboanga Peninsula

A TOP official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here in the Zamboanga Peninsula has urged those qualified to register so they can exercise their right of suffrage.

Lawyer Wilfred Jay Balisado, Comelec regional director, made the call as the agency is conducting general registration of voters in preparation for the mid-term elections in May 2019.

The voters’ registration is scheduled to be held from July 2 to September 29, 2018 pursuant to Comelec en banc Resolution 103992 dated June 19, 2018.

The registration is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, including holidays at the Comelec office in the locality.

Balisado said those who want to register must bring proof of identity such as birth certificate and identification cards.

Balisado said qualified to register are those 18 years old and those who will turn 18 before the 2019 mid-term elections.

He said they will also accommodate transfer of registration, correction of entry on registration record, and reactivation of registration record.

Satellite registration will also be conducted with priority in villages with high number of population as well as in hospitals and schools. (SunStar Philippines)
