ALL is set for the conduct of a tree planting activity in line with the observation of Arbor Day on Monday, June 25.

The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) will spearhead the activity, in line with a national law and supplemented by City Ordinance 281 aimed to instill the culture of planting trees and caring for the environment.

Gerry Pollisco, environment and natural resources division chief, said the event will kick off with a program at the Cesar Climaco Freedom Park at 7 a.m. with Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar leading the activity.

Pollisco said that some 4,000 seedlings of indigenous species such as narra, palo maria, nato, bitanghol and kalunti have been prepared for distribution to the different participating agencies, organizations and institutions, which have been designated with a planting site in the Pasonanca Natural Park.

He said that invitations have also been extended to forest product dealers such as lumberyards as well as sand and gravel permitees.
