Baumgart: New school year’s resolution

IT looks like classes are in full swing.

The familiar sights greet us: seas of students in school uniforms, teachers hard at work preparing for class, parents dropping off their kids at the school gates, and everyone rushing to school with their books, homework, and lunchboxes.

It’s great to see everyone back in their classrooms, getting their studies on!

Here’s hoping that everyone will have a great schoolyear ahead. Remember, keep your noses in your books, brush up on your grammar, and pass your projects and homework on time.

With everyone all geared up and ready to go, how about setting some goals for the year?

How about building a new study habit or working harder on a subject you’ve been struggling with? Or perhaps reading more books, preparing for class more, or just coming to class on time?

Like a New Year’s resolution, you might want to consider setting a New School Year’s resolution. Set a learning goal and work towards it for the year.

Working towards a learning goal, no matter how small or big it is, will give you an extra feeling of achievement at the end of the school year. Work hard on your learning goal and you’ll definitely achieve it.

Back when I was in college, I set small learning goals for myself. I found them helpful in achieving small wins in school and in class. By setting learning goals, it helped me work on reports better and submit projects and stories on time for my writing classes.

Do you have a goal in mind?

If you’re interested in achieving a reading goal and brushing up on your history, here’s something that might interest you.

As I write this, it’s Jose Rizal’s birthday.

It’s his 157th birthday and in celebration of his birthday, creators in Japan will release manga (Japanese comic) on the life and work of our national hero.

The story will be written by Takahiro Matsui and the art will be done by manga artist Ryo Konno. This news is absolutely fascinating and definitely something to look forward to.

The manga will be available on manga.club and readers can read the comic reportedly for free. If you want to brush up on your history and get a more visual account of Rizal’s life and work, then this might be just for you. Plus, if you’re a manga fan, then this might just be a total treat!

I look forward to reading the manga and Matsui’s take on Rizal’s life. It should be an interesting read, especially with the graphics. And who knows, it might just help you in your history class as well.

A reading goal and reading up on our national hero is just one of the many things you can set as a goal for this school year.

Have fun setting your goal this school year and work hard towards achieving it.

So, what’s your New School Year’s Resolution?
