NINETY senior high school students of the Mandaue City Comprehensive School will benefit from the P1.2 million worth of training tools and equipment donated by Vivant Corp. and Foundation.
Senior high students studying Technical Vocational Livelihood-Electrical Installation Maintenance (TVL-EIM) are the main recipients of this donation.
Vivant Foundation has requested the Department of Education 7 to incorporate solar power installation and maintenance into the EIM Technical Vocational courses for senior high school students. DepEd 7 approved, and integrated it into the EIM Tech-Voch curriculum, which focuses on improving the quality of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)-related education and technical vocation in public schools.
Through the donation, Vivant Corp. and Foundation, hopes to equip the students to have gainful employment in the future.
“We want our communities to be able to handle electronics. We want them to be qualified electricians in the community,” said Shem Jose Garcia, assistant vice president for corporate communications of Vivant Corp. and executive director of Vivant Foundation.
For students of a public school that lacks facilities for their major subjects, the equipment donated by Vivant is really of big help to them as they can now put the knowledge they have learned into practice.
“As a student, sa ako dako jud nig ikatabang ang Vivant Corp... Naa nay nihatag ug privilege sa amua kay mahal baya kaayo ng solar panel, mga batteries, mga mahalon ug wala man mi ana maong dako gyud namo ug pasalamat sa Vivant Corp.,” said Danilo R. Rojas Jr., a grade 11 TVL-EIM student.
“Daghan ni ug tabang especially these are equipment that are hard to get by. We’re thankful to Vivant for giving us this kind of equipment and for supporting us. Dako na ni ug matabang especially for us students since we lack equipment like these,” grade 11 TVL-EIM student, John Glenn G. Mariquit, said.
Through the donation, Vivant gives each student an opportunity to become a TESDA NCII holder, a certificate allowing students to be employed in any industry relative to solar panel services.
After the turnover ceremony, three teachers namely Rodulfo Luarez, Antonio Martinez, and Danilo Prieto of MCCNHS were recognized for their efforts in joining the training sponsored by Vivant Foundation last May 29 to June 7.
They were trained on how to manage, repair, and maintain the equipment together with two other instructors from another school beneficiary, the Bantayan National High School.
MCCNHS was chosen as one of the beneficiaries considering the capabilities of the students and the population enrolled in vocational courses. Bantayana National High School, on the other hand, was chosen so it can be provided a source of energy.
