BAGUIO City Police Officer director Senior Superintendent Ramil Saculles on Monday, June 25, said their campaign to clear the streets of potential troublemakers as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte is lawful.

Saculles said they have been enforcing city ordinances, such as the “Oplan Bakal Sita” which deters criminal activities at night.

This is not different from the anti-loiterer campaign, he said.

“Sa atin po huwag po tayong malito (Let us not be confused). It is the order of the President and likewise our Chief PNP which is the same as the Oplan Bakal Sita,” added Saculles.

Saculles said if there are reports of certain suspicious personality in the area they will implement the stop and freeze operations.

“Iyong tambay naman na walang kasalanan pwede nating pauwiin. Puwede nating i-verify if there is indeed a warrant of arrest para makita natin kung he is cleared,” added Saculles.

Police Regional Office – Cordillera regional director Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana added the BCPO operation is one way of preventing crime in the highland city.

The regional director added on a regional level, they have arrested several violators of local ordinances that prohibit smoking and drinking liquor in prohibited places as well as minors who violated the curfew. The minors have been turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“They are very active in implementing the campaign against violators of city or municipal ordinances and in the City of Baguio they have done their share. Mayroon din silang couple of personalities violating city ordinances,” Nana said.
