DOZENS of pupils received school bags from Mayor Condralito “Carling” dela Cruz in celebration of his natal day.
Dela Cruz has started the tradition of giving away bags and school supplies as a way of celebrating his birthday with his constituents and also as a means of helping students with their school needs.
He added that the activity is also a part of their commitment to push quality and affordable education.
“Our kind mayor celebrated his birthday in June when classes traditionally start in our country. He does not prepare a lavish birthday party. What he instead does is give bags and school supplies to the young students,” Vice Mayor Dexter David said.
De La Cruz and David, who were unopposed in 2013, are supporting poor but deserving students by providing scholarship grants.
“The mayor, the councilors and I with the help of our supporters have been giving the best public service possible. They voted for us and the only thing we can do is return the favor to them,” said David in the dialect. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
