PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has added two more days to the list of regular holidays in the country for 2023.

Under Proclamation No. 90, Marcos declared April 6 and 7, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, as regular holidays.

He also moved the commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan, which is a regular holiday, to April 10 instead of April 9 that falls on a Sunday.

The purpose of the declaration is to create a five-day long weekend “to help encourage domestic travel and increase tourism expenditures in the country,” based on Proclamation No. 90.

On a regular holiday, if the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100 percent of his/her daily salary while those who will report for work will be paid double with an additional 30 percent if he/she exceeded the eight hour duty.

An employee working on a regular holiday that falls to his/her rest days, he/she is entitled to a double pay of basic daily wage with an additional 30 percent. (SunStar Philippines)
