Call for submissions

YES, it is back once again, the time of the year when filmmakers are again up on their toes with the holding of two film festivals here in Davao Region.

Mindanao Film Fest

The 10th Mindanao Film Festival is calling for submissions for completed feature-length films, short films, documentaries, and animated short films (new category) made by Mindanawon filmmakers or films about, related to, or shot in Mindanao.

Celebrating a decade of showcasing the active filmmaking movement in the region. This year's festival will carry the theme "MFF @10; Celebrating Regional Imaginations". The 10th MFF is expected to present a record number of films produced in Mindanao.

Aside from professional and veteran regional filmmakers, students may also participate by submitting their films in the student category (High School & College).

All genres are welcome, such as comedy, drama, and experimental, as long as the film has been completed anytime within October 2013 to October 2014, and has not been screened in the previous Mindanao Film Festival.

For the animated short film category, films must have been completed anytime within 2010 to October 2014, and must not have been an entry from previous festivals of MFF.

Nabunturan Film Exchange

Nabunturan Film Exchange (Nabifilmex) is newly-minted film festival that started just last year. The initiative hopes to jumpstart the filmmaking movement in the Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental area.

This year, they are inviting filmmakers from across Mindanao to join the film festival, which just like the Mindanao Film Festival is also supported by the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The event will be held on October 16-19, 2014.

There is only one category in Nabifilmex that is the open short category with a minimum running time of 3 minutes and maximum 25 minutes which includes credits.

These are films produced from January 2012 to September 2014. And to promote local film culture, the films should have a visual narrative that deals on reality, local identity and local culture.

For those interested to submit, here are some of the guidelines:

- Duly filled out 2014 Official Entry Form. (downloadable at https: https://www.facebook.com/NABIFILMEX)

- List of all production crew with names and designation (1 page, 12 pts. size, Arial Narrow).

- Detailed synopsis written in English (1 page, 12 pts. size, Arial Narrow, not more than 300 words).

- Soft copy of detailed synopsis and list of all production crew stored in CD.

- At least 3 digital copies of production stills in high resolution (.jpeg, .psd).

- 2 DVD screener of the output with DVD Menu complete with English Subtitles.- 1 copy of the output in high resolution digital format (.avi, .mov, .mpeg) stored in CD.

- 1 copy of 30 seconds theatrical trailer in high resolution digital format (.avi, .mov, .mpeg) stored in CD.

- 1 copy of 1 min. theatrical trailer in high resolution digital format (.avi, .mov, .mpeg) stored in CD.

- 1 digital copy of 2x3ft. movie poster in high resolution (.psd, .tiff, .jpeg) stored in CD.

All entries must be placed in a sealed long brown envelope and must be mailed and reach the office of the.
