Rastaclat now in Davao

IN Long Beach California, Daniel Kasidi Nyaggah was waiting for a ride from a friend as they were to go skateboarding. Out of boredom he fashioned his shoelaces into a bracelet. This caught up with his friends who would ask for his bracelets.

Soon he started creating these shoelace bracelets during evenings and weekends. Until the demand grew he could not fulfill other's requests. Daniel then knew that there was a big potential for these shoelace bracelets which he had called Rastaclats and indeed it had become a worldwide phenomenon.

These bracelets are now in Davao. I was invited during the launch of the product at the Sneaker Club in Abreeza. People were crowding along the table which contained the various styles and designs of the bracelets.

According to Danelle Filipinas Marketing officer of Rastaclat, the name means the cloth of the righteous more than just a fashion accessory Rastaclat is dedicated to the spirit of spreading positive vibrations' which meant encouraging individual style, a sense of positivity and freedom of expression.

Kyle Concepcion of Regain Philippines official Rastaclat distributor in the country chose Sneaker Club as the city's sole retailer because just like Rastaclat the sneaker game is how the youth express their own sense of individuality and style.

"By working together with them, we aim to influence and encourage the youth of Davao to be different and at the same time, spread positivity in their family and in their community," Kyle said in his message.

On the works is a partnership with Manic Nightnings Productions for their rave parties. "We need to break the stereotype that rave parties are nothing but venues for kids to party and get high. We believe the energy in these events can also be channeled to the same positive message that Rastaclat stands for," Kyle said.

During the launch, selected young Dabawenyos were chosen as product ambassadors among them included Manic Nightnings Productions DJ who had performed in the city's biggest electronic dance music (EDM) parties like Torch Gacuma, Niel Recinto, Uno Tupas and Tien Batu.

Fashion blogger Janvie Tiu, Under-16 National Football Team captain Jed Diamante, photographer Nikko Zamora, student Kathleen Ong, high school cager Melvin Teves, party organizer Kat Dalisay and young dancer Alliyah Mariano rounded out the Rastaclat product endorsers.

"As a dancer, I spread positive vibrations through influencing others to have the same passion for the things they love doing just as my passion for dancing," Alliyah Mariano said during the product launch.

"Fashion as an outlet has helped me move people and give them ideas on how to feel confident inside and out and thru fashion this is how I will spread positive vibrations," said Janvie Tiu.

The products range from P600-P750 and are only sold at Sneaker Club being the only official retailer here in Mindanao. A special limited collection of Rastaclat bracelets which is the People Water line is sold at P900, part of the People Water Rastaclat collection proceeds goes to a worldwide fund which helps marginalized people get access to clean drinking water."
