Ifugao town adopts anti-criminality action plan

LAGAWE, Ifugao -- Members of the Municipal Council here had adopted the anti-criminality action plan (Lacap) of the municipality for implementation this year.

The plan dubbed Implan "Linggop" (peace) sets forth the pragmatic approach to enhance the anti-criminality campaign of the Lagawe Municipal Police Station (MPS) with the support of other stakeholders in the municipality.

"This Lacap of the municipality is simple, realistic and highly attainable by all sectors concerned particularly in cases of physical injuries and reckless imprudence resulting in homicide or serious physical injuries due to drunkenness in the municipality," the SB stated.

Aside from the police, other municipal offices like the Health Office, Social Welfare and Development Office, the Municipal Peace and Order Council, Peace and Order Safety Committee, barangay officials and "tanods", Municipal Council, Department of Education and transport groups are also mandated to support the effective implementation of the anti-criminality plan.

The Lagawe MPS hopes the implementation of Lacap will boost the anti-criminality drive of the police and community as a whole.

Meanwhile, the Lamut police station reported a decrease of crimes in the municipality for the past two months of this year compared to the same period last year.

Police Senior Inspector Edgar L. Tapo reported during the municipal peace and order council meeting that from January to February 2015, their office recorded a total of 27 crime volume against the 51 last year.

He said most of the crimes committed are traffic accidents usually related to the excessive intake of alcoholic beverages by the parties involved or lack of self-discipline/intentional disobedience to traffic rules and regulations.

The police also arrested six people wanted with various crime offenses and apprehend 84 violators of the Land Transportation and Traffic code.

Tapo attributed this positive development to the cooperation of the public, government officials and the civic activities in trying to win peace in the municipality. (Marcelo Lihgawon)
