Tapa King marks 2nd year in Oro

TAPA King Inc. reached a milestone Saturday, November 4, as it celebrated its second year of serving Kagay-anons its home-cooked meals.

As its way of saying thank you, the first 100 Tapa King noontime patrons last Saturday enjoyed its Original classic tapa king meal for only P20 per serving.

The celebrations also featured a motorcade around the city, as well as a thanksgiving treat for invited guests.

Humble beginning

Tapa King was founded 30 years ago in 1987 on Gallardo Street in Makati City. Its original tapa recipe was first sold at a small store in Makati where it catered to very small group of working professionals.

In time, the store became known for its signature home-cooked meals and Tapa King began expanding to other sites, first in Metro Manila and eventually, nationwide.

Thirty years later, Tapa King now has 101 stores nationwide and abroad, five of which are located in Mindanao, three in Dubai, and one in Singapore.

According to operations manager for Mindanao Sochie Cervantes, Tapa King is planning to expand its presence in Cagayan de Oro to better serve Kagay-anons.

"We are confident in the city's reputation as a convenient place to do business, that is why we are planning to expand more branches in the coming years. Our company is committed to serve the only best quality food and service. ‘Yan ang secret ni Tapa King for the last 30 years -- no short changing the customers, no excuses, kailangan talaga the best lang ang ibibigay," Cervantes added.

According to Tapa King marketing manager Rich Rabina, since Tapa King's opening in 2015 in Divisoria, the fast-food chain continues to advance its presence in Cagayan de Oro, this time to be the top-of-mind choice for home-cooked meals, offering not only the best premium tapa meal in the country but a variety of old-time Pinoy favorites such as kare-kare, bulalo, pinakbet, smoked bangus, crispy liempo, and a lot more at a very affordable price.

“Celebrating our second year anniversary is just perfect timing to re-introduce Tapa King to the growing millennial foodie market of Cagayan de Oro. Our store is now Instagram worthy. We now offer free Wifi access. We are open 24 hours every Friday to Sunday and 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. from Monday to Thursday, and a true blooded Mindanaon who eats without pretenses, Sebastian 'Baste' Duterte, now represents Tapa King,” said Rabina.
