Stunning, unique and beautiful- but who would've thought that these Christmas trees are made out of recycled materials?
Various types of recyclable materials like bedroom slippers, water gallons and bottles have been used to adorn the Cebu Parklane International Hotel's Christmas tree. This has been a yearly tradition by the hotel since 2012.
Jaybee Aquino, the Marketing Communications Manager of Parklane, shared that aside from this being part of their environmental advocacy and corporate social responsibility, it is something that the company and staff whole-heartedly enjoy doing.
This year's campaign, "I can go green, I can save lives, I can because of a can" transforms empty tin cans into trinkets which will be used as decorations for the Christmas tree that is still made out of tin cans.
Individually sold at Php 250 and Php 400, the trinkets, however, are more than just dazzling decorations.
Alongside the hotel's yearly Christmas tradition, Parklane also gives donations to the Cancer Warrior Foundation Inc. Cebu Chapter.
"Aside from this being our environmental advocacy, we're also doing it for the Cancer Warrior Foundation." said Aquino.
The said foundation is an organization that supports children with cancer. Hence, the trinkets which will be sold and bought is equivalent to buying a vial that will be used for a cancer patient's chemotherapy.
The trinkets are being sold at the hotel's lobby until November 14, 2017. The money collected from all the sold trinkets will be turned over immediately to the beneficiary right after the Tree Lighting Ceremony which takes place on the same day. (Romayne Rivera)
