STI West Negros University (WNU) secondary boys were ecstatic after defeating University of St. La Salle Thursday, 3-1 and claimed the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) secondary boys’ football at their home turf.
STI WNU mentor Ian Combate described the victory as an answered prayer.
“It was a great run for WNU this season with a 3-0 win over Trinity Christian School followed by a 7-0 victory over St. John’s Institute, and another 3-0 triumph against University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in the eliminations,” he said.
In the semis, STI WNU demolished St. Francis of Assisi, 10-0 before taking down La Salle in the championship behind the goals of Michael Fernandez, Mark Christian Gubatayao, and Bryant John Alianza.
The win secured STI WNU the right to represent Nopsscea in the Palarong Panlalawigan next month. (HGD)
