THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) inaugurated its new six-story senior high school (SHS) building in Barangay Basak, Cebu City last Friday.
The inauguration of the new building was held in time for the feast day of the Nuestra De La Salud to whom the building was dedicated.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, together with the Augustinian priests of USJ-R, blessed the 1,700-square-meter building.
The construction of Nuestra De La Salud building was meant to address the lack of classrooms and laboratories, following the increasing number of students per year.
Students and teachers will start using the new building this week.
The building has seven laboratories for robotics, speech, math, chemistry biology, physics and earth science, while the 30 classrooms are located at the fourth and sixth floors.
The building took a year and a half to construct. The senior high school levels began two school years ago.
Palma said that he was happy and grateful to the inauguration of the new SHS building.
“It is a sign of how the Augustinian rectors support education. I share the mission of Augustinian Recoletos in growing a solid foundation on education that keeps the quality academic and the formation of Christian community,” said Palma.
The prelate also said that the students should take this as an opportunity to accept challenges and make the most of the conducive atmosphere of the school. (Trisha Oliveros, Jaziel Calumpag, USC Interns)
