Group turns over equipment to city

QUOTA International, an international service organization that advocates to help those who have hearing problems, turned over to the City Government of Davao on Monday, November 20, a machine which can be used to detect hearing loss in newborns.

Doctor Marilyn Navales, regional director of the Quota International, said the P350,000 machine for otoacoustic emission will be used for newborn screening and will detect hearing problems among newborn.

She said one out of 17 newborns is detected to have hearing loss.

Navales added that they hope that their donation will be placed in a government facility so that newborns from outside the city proper, especially those which are from far flung barangays can avail of the service. (KVC)
