Fresh look, new feature on latest SunStar app version

KEEPING its promise to remain relevant in the rapidly changing digital landscape, SunStar has redesigned its mobile application with a fresh look, a classified ads feature, and a better overall performance.

The latest version of the MySunStar app can now be downloaded for free on Google Play, and will be available soon on the Apple Store.

MySunStar Version 3 features a new design and an enhanced user interface, making it easy for users to skim through the news headlines to get the latest stories and information of the day.

“The (MySunStar) Version 3 is an improvement in terms of design and in terms of ease of use. One example is upon registration: before, you can only register through your email address, now we have used social media platforms as ways for you to subscribe the app,” said Nini Cabaero, editor-in-chief of SunStar Network Exchange, the department that manages the digital products of SunStar Publishing Inc.

MySunStar also features a wider range of content and greater personalization, allowing users, whether they’re at home or on the go, to have full control over what stories they want to read.

SunStar doesn’t toss content onto the digital porch like a newspaper. Rather it curates and categorizes stories that matter to readers. Users can add categories by updating their preferences in the app’s Interests section.

A daily summary of the news around the country is still available through the app’s News Bits section.

Services like Jobs, Properties, Lotto, including MySunStar’s latest feature -- Classifieds, are just a thumb away.

The Classifieds is where you can post an ad for a fee. You can fill out the form, upload a photo, and submit for review. The ad, once approved, will be published on the app or SunStar newspaper.

“The most exciting innovation of the Version 3 is the introduction of the Classified Ads on the app. Using the app from your mobile phone, you can view all the classified ads and you can post and pay also for publication or use of your ad in the SunStar newspaper, on the SunStar website and promoted also in our social media accounts,” Cabaero said.

Advertisements can be about gadgets, motors, fashion, food, house items, hobbies, pets, jobs or properties.

“We have several categories, among them transportation and gadgets, of course, because that is what’s ‘hot’ these days. It can be a second-hand phone, a second-hand tablet. For transportation, in can be a second-hand motorcycle or a car or a new one that you want to sell,” Cabaero said.

“As far as I know, we (SunStar) will be the first Philippine media organization to offer something like this. We were the first to come up with an app that personalizes news selection in 2015 and now we will be again the first to offer Classified Ads on your mobile,” Cabaero added.

MySunStar, which was launched in 2015, was created in line with SunStar’s commitment to provide the readers news and information wherever they may be and whatever platform they choose.

SunStar has been working hard to optimize its mobile app for whatever type of device a person is using and it is continually making improvements for a fast, easy browsing experience.
