THE high school batch who graduated in 1977 from the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC) will mark its Ruby jubilee with activities lined up from November 28 to December 2.
The annual homecoming for all alumni will be on December 3. Members of Batch '77 will open reunion activities with practice sessions from November 28 to December 2 for their presentation during the homecoming to be held at the CIC Cebu campus grounds. The daily practice sessions and get-together will be capped by a budol dinner.
Virginia “Jing” Vergara-Escaño, who spearheaded and organized reunion activities, said, “High school may have ended 40 years ago, but we act like 15 year olds whenever we are together!”
December 3, Sunday, will be the homecoming billed as “Coming Home in Coachella.”
The homecoming will open with registration at 1 p.m., to be followed by a mass at the auditorium at 3 p.m. After the mass, the attendees will be treated to a sumptuous snack of Churros con Chocoláte caliente prepared by the DC Vincentian sisters, an old tradition that has been practiced for many years. After that, everyone will be escorted to the campus grounds for the opening of the celebration and dance presentations per Jubilee batch, then dinner will be served. Dinner is catered by Café Laguna.
The ballots to vote for the new set of officers will be tallied (ballots will be given to the attendees during registration) and the names will be announced during the fellowship.
As part of Batch '77 reunion activities, members will give back to the community and provide goods like diapers, powdered milk, sacks of rice to children at the Missionaries of the Poor in Pasil, Cebu City.
The Batch '77 organizing committee is also composed of Femie Gomo, treasurer and advisor (she is also the existing CIC HS Principal); Magilda Gonzalez, overall artistic coordinator, from design and creation of lavish costumes, as well as, the planning of music and choreography.
