SMASH Pilipinas of the Philippine Badminton Association will hold a Shuttle Time Teacher and Tutor Course from December 6 to 9 at the University of St. La Salle and Pohang Badminton Center in Bacolod City.
The course is a School Badminton Program Specifically designed for teachers to plan and deliver fun and safe badminton activities.
“We already have established a calendar of badminton events for the year, a series of club competitions, the annual staging of Palarong Pambansa, National Games and the Batang Pinoy tournament for youngsters,” said lawyer Ponciano “Jackie” Cruz, Smash Pilipinas team manager.
He added that teachers play a big role in introducing badminton to young children and starting them to become interested and try the sport.
A standardized skills development curriculum taught in a fun and age appropriate manner is yet to be implanted in the school level to ensure accuracy of learning the fundamental movements of the sport, he explained.
Cruz added that the course was developed and implemented by the Badminton World Federation and supervised by the Badminton Asia that aim to deliver positive, fun and safe learning of badminton in schools.
“This is our way of supporting and increasing the number of teachers who will deliver Shuttle Time to their respective schools in the Philippines,” he said.
A registration of P1,500 per participant will cover food, teacher manual, and lesson plan.
