Negrenses asked to support 'Pito, Bata' campaign

THE Provincial Committee for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) has called on the Negrenses to support its campaign “Pito, Bata, Pito! A Call for Help Campaign” (C4H) that aims to keep kids from getting involved in illegal drugs and other forms of violence.

The campaign was launched as part of the local celebration of the 25th National Children’s Month with this year’s theme, “Bata: Iligtas sa Droga!” in support to the administration’s fight against illegal drugs.

The appeal was made by Social Worker Jessica Arangorin of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Central Visayas in a gathering of members of the Association of Negros Oriental Public Information Officers (Anopio) Training on News Writing held recently.

Arangorin called for public participation on the project C4H, as she asked the Anopio members to also help in the promotion of the campaign to educate and protect children from harm.

She also urged the public to donate pito or whistles to be distributed to the children in the province for them to use to call for help when they encounter violence or during emergencies.

“The whistles to be distributed to children can be used anytime they feel unsafe or in danger to attract attention or call for help,” said Arangorin. (PIA)
