THERE is no such thing as hospitality in basketball as the home teams did not waste any time in annihilating the visitors in the Asia Pacific University Games yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
Trying to make up for the loss to the University of the Visayas Green Lancers the other day, Univesity of San Carlos vented its ire on a hapless Malaysians, whom they wiped out Malaysia, 112-41.
The Malaysians were simply no match for the Warriors with the visiting team scoring a measly nine points in the second and fourth quarters.
Leading USC was Leo Labiste, who only played for three quarters but came up with 24 points, while John Reel Saycon added 19.
USC improved to 1-1, while Malaysia fell to 0-2.
Meanwhile, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers snatched their second victory after defeating China’s Jiangxi Provincial Pingxiang Experimental School in another blowout, 107-67.
Ajie Mendez powered USPF with 19 points, while Kenneth Cada added 15 markers, to improve to 2-0.
It was the Chinese school’s second loss in the tournament after losing to the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars, 119-51, last Wednesday. (MCB)
