Marvil: Council approves P2.056-billion 2018 budget

THE City Council during last Monday’s regular session has approved the income portion of the 2018 total budgetary outlay for the City of Baguio in the amount of P2,056,449,064. Bulk of the funding is projected to be obtained from business taxes which is expected to produce an income of around P260,000,000nand also from Real Property Taxes with an estimated income of around P217,000,000. Other major sources of financing will come from the shares of the city from the Economic Zones (P200,000,000) and from the share of the city from Internal Revenue Collections (P752,605,064).

The City Council on the other hand is expected to deliberate and pass the 2018 Annual Investment Plan (AIP) or the Budget of Expenditures during the scheduled special session tomorrow or on the next regular session on Monday, December 18, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Committee on Urban Planning, Lands and Housing chaired by Councilor Edgar Avila has scheduled a forum on land use in the City of Baguio and the role of the Local Government Units and private institutions in urban management and development.

The said activity will focus on the creation of a forum wherein all concerned agencies, whether public or private, can pull in their ideas and openly express their opinions on land use and urban management and development.

It, likewise, will help in identifying present problems and foresee future dilemmas that need to be addressed by the city and the private sector and also aimed to formulate policies, establish guidelines, and define clearly the role of the private sector and the city in land use and urban development and management. The assembly is scheduled on December 15, 2017, at 8 a.m. at the PFVR gym.
