Del Rosario: ‘My Christmas wish list’

THE Baguio Association of Restaurants (BAR) had its annual Christmas Party last Monday, Dec. 11. We had three generations of BAR members represented.

Among many, Oyan Villanueva’s children and Auring Bautista’s grandson, JayJay, who came in from Canada were some of the older 3rd gen BAR family members. Janet Lu’s grandchild, Rynne Robyn, was the youngest at 3 months old.

A number of BAR family friends were also present. It was a fun night emceed by the amazing duo Oyan and Jal (Martirez), as we reminisced the “good old times” and recalled good memories of members who had gone ahead of us.

In a message to the group, I shared my three Christmas wishes for this year and wished the same for all:

1. Good health

We know the old saying that “HEALTH IS WEALTH”, and that many of us work hard in our younger days at the expense of our health, and in our advanced years, end up spending our wealth to prolong our health.

2. Good and harmonious family ties

In the end, what matters is our relationship with God and how we have lived our lives; and the presence of family members and loved ones around us, who we all love and all love us, with little or zero animosity and unsettled differences; where any hurts have been forgiven and any thorny issues resolved.

3. Wisdom

Wisdom is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Pray for it. Having wisdom leads us to strive to be obedient and respectful to parents and elders, the meek and lowly; to be humble instead of proud; to love and be compassionate; to forgive and to seek forgiveness; to be grateful; to fear the Lord; and to develop all positive values and traits.

My dearest family and BAR family members,

What is a biblical basis for seeking wisdom?

Proverbs 3:13 -15 says: “Blessed is the man who seeks wisdom, the man who gains understanding; for she is more profitable than silver, gives a better return than gold; for she is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

A wish remains a wish. But with prayer, action, and great expectation, our wish can become reality.

May my good wishes and prayers for you come true.

Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”
