Mama's Little Secret

“CAN you keep a secret?”

Everyone has secrets of his own, things hidden away from others. It may be a little secret: harmless, funny, sad or a life-changing one, but not all secrets are meant to be kept forever.

Mama’s Little Secret, a creative burger shack owned by Nekie Macalolooy, has been around since July 16, 2015, serving quality and creative burgers with a fusion of Filipino and British culinary ideas. It started as a hole-in-the-wall setup nestled in the owner’s humble abode at V.B Cabahug, Opao, Mandaue City, after joining food bazaars in Cebu and Manila.

Its thick, juicy and tasty homemade burgers are made from carefully selected ingredients and premium meat that will surely surprise one’s taste buds. All of its burgers come with a salad and a choice of its mouthwatering sauces with four flavors.

Its creative burgers in a toasted bun include its signature item which is The Borky, an original hickory barbecue patty made with pork, beef and secret ingredient served with extra cheese and salad; The Beefy, a pepper beef patty served with sweet pickle relish topped with tomato sauce, mayonnaise, mustard and salad; The Cheesy, a casual favorite juicy beef patty with cheese overload; The Hawaiian, a classic beef patty with grilled ring of juicy pineapple with extra cheese and salad; The Spanish Oink, a Pinoy-style sweet chorizo, lean pork and spring onion patty cooked to perfection with crispy fried onions; and The Burning Ring which is known as a hangover remedy in UK, a very spicy beef and chili patty served with salad and a cooling ranch sauce.

It also has specials like UK’s favorite snack, The Bacon Butty which has 140 grams of maple cured bacon served in a toasted bun with lettuce and cheese on top; The Bbq Ranch, a pepper beef patty with double maple cured bacon, cheese and onion rings served with lettuce, tomato, onion, barbecue and sauce salad in a toasted bun; and The Cozy Cow, a juicy centered beef patty wrapped in a maple cured bacon topped with cheese.

One may choose between the beast which has single patty and the monster which has double patty. To complete the hearty meal, international and local drinks and popular side dishes like beer battered onion rings and flavored fries are also available.

Due to insistent public demand, Mama’s Little Secret Creative Burgers decided to settle in one place after transferring from one food bazaar to another and went back to where it all started: the owner’s residence. The place showcases an alfresco set-up with beach umbrellas and ordinary chairs and tables.

There’s also the beach-themed Pinterest-inspired burger shack with the colors of aquamarine, red, yellow and white inspired by its logo that can accommodate up to 30 persons and is open every day from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
