Water supply in CdeO back to normal

THE Cagayan de Oro City Water District's (COWD) two booster pumping stations are now fully operational, bringing water supply back to normal in flash flood-hit areas of the city.

In an advisory, the COWD said the booster stations in Barangay Macasandig are now operational. All seven production wells are now fed to the system which is serving the central area of the city.

In order to fast-track pressure build up, COWD spokesperson Ladelle Sagrado said all public faucets installed temporarily for public access to water, shall be retrieved by COWD personnel anytime on Sunday while repair of cut service lines shall also commence.

While water was out, the water utility installed clustered faucets in barangay Lapasan, 26th St. Nazareth, Macasandig and Kauswagan Highway and also installed water tanks and bladders in barangays Macasandig, Nazareth, Puntod, Camaman- an, and Aluba.

Tropical Storm Vinta's damage to infrastructure such as roads, dikes and bridges is pegged at P9.5 million. Around 549 houses were destroyed and 403 were damaged, which are now under validation.

The city is still under a state of calamity. Through the declaration, the city can make use of the five percent calamity fund to support and assist the affected residents, while they may also avail of loan privileges from the companies where they are working, and from government agencies and banking institutions with the lowest interest.
