Mercado: Humanap ka ng pangit

THE late Governor Francisco Nepomucenos was a master of ‘simile’ as meant by lawyer-writer Atlee Viray. After a night of bad luck Nepo was asked how he fared in the game.

"Mengari naku kang Cleopatra, kabukas kung mituturan," he quipped.

(Like her I was being hit the whole night).

Once I got into a heated argument with esteemed former police general Orlando Macaspac who held that sex with a pretty partner brings the higher satisfaction compared to a pleasure scale enjoyed by an Aeta couple making love.

The ex-cop believes that the male negrito enjoys lesser pleasure than us lowlanders with traditional partners, especially with good looking girls. I argued that regardless of ethnicity the eruption was the same in the Pinatubo area. I cited a quotation in Latin on matters of taste.

Macaspac never talked to me again.

I was disturbed somewhat when a congressman proposed a law that would help husbands dispose of wives who appear displeasing in appearance (ugly) to their partners. They are believed to be more faithful, is the song exalting plain looking girls as models of fidelity and wife material.

US sailors and airmen were practical in their choice of love partners. They looked at native women not as potential wife material but as human helicopters.

If the film industry records show, beautiful girls got separated from their husbands or partners more frequently and with impunity than their plain looking colleagues. It’s a reality that a beautiful wife is more expensive and demanding one. Macaspac is right when he thinks the husband who gifts his spouse with a piece of jewellery before sex makes for better results than the baluga couple who obey basic instincts and free-range love without bribery.

If CJ Sereno is impeached and ousted from office, it is most likely that a Charter Change follows, and with it the establishment of a Federal form of government. Likely no elections WILL BE HELD in 2019 to the frustration of aspirants and re-electionists. Pampanga will be part of what will be the State of Central Luzon.

In that scenario, the much expected contest for governor between Rep. Juan Pablo Bondoc and Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda will not happen in the old set-up. However, people speculate on who Delta will take as running mate. Board Members Canlas, Henson, Labung, and a woman are mentioned... 3rd District Rep. Dong Gonzales is safely enthrenched in his turf... CSF Mayor EdSAN has no apparent opponent unless former Rep. Didi Domingo, now Pagcor chief will join the race. Didi has earned her enormous fortune the hard way... People in the next MOKA Committee must remove their blinders and recognize the accomplishment of CIAC OIC President and CEO Alexander Cauguiran who will bring distinction to the Award.
