THE 19th Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA-Cebu) Sinulog Open National Tournament is all set to kick off on Jan. 22 at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad, Cebu City.
BTA-Cebu president Bel Suelto Jr. said that Bowling World Cup (BWC) champion Krizziah Lyn Tabora, who will be playing in the Masters’ Open, will arrive in Cebu on Jan. 24.
The action will get more exciting as national team players and national youth bowlers will come to town for the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Federation.
“Some of the elite (PHL) national players have confirmed to participate, they’re Jomar Jomapao, Jay-ar Tan, Kevin Cu, JP Macatula, etc. There will be (PHL) youth players as well but couldn’t figure out their names yet,” said Suelto.
The legendary bowler Bong Coo will also come to Cebu and will arrive on Jan. 24 or 25.
“Not sure with Bong Coo if is she plays in the senior division category. She is coming just to give her support to our Open division and she’s bringing with her a lot of good bowlers,” said Suelto.
With the entry of the BWC champion, it’s expected to be a tough field for the bowlers. “Krizziah (Tabora) is a tough bowler to beat because she is a member of the Elite (PHL) players,” he said.
Tabora recently clinched the BWC title in the 53rd QubicaAMF BWC in Hermosillo, Mexico last Nov. 11. It was the country’s best finish in the World Cup after 14 years.
Tabura was the fifth Filipino to win BWC title, joining the likes of Paeng Nepomuceno, Christian Suarez, Lita dela Rosa and Bong Coo. (RSC)
