Drug-laced drinks? Cebu City hall, PDEA to monitor music fest

TO ensure there will be no unruly behavior during a music and arts festival on Saturday, the Cebu City Government and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 and the Cebu City Police Office will help secure the event.

They’re responding to reports of drinks being laced with dangerous drugs in parties. Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, said he has met with organizers of Plus 63 Music and Arts Festival and the latter assured that they will cooperate with the authorities.

Tumulak said they also assured him that Plus 63 in the Cebu Business Park will be “cultural, purely singing and not the rowdy type.”

Meanwhile, the City Government has tapped barangays along the grand parade route on Sunday to augment security.

Tumulak said they are not discounting the possibility of local discos being held on Sunday by bars and barangays located outside the 300-meter radius of the parade route.

“As much as possible, we want this year’s Sinulog celebration to be safe and child-friendly, so we’re asking for everyone’s cooperation,” he said. (RTF)
