COMMUTERS, brace for a whole day heavy traffic in Mandaue City on Friday, January 19.
Glenn Antigua, chief for operations of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), said people who will pass Mandaue must expect heavy traffic due to the several activities lined up for the whole day.
At least three roads will be closed in Mandaue on Friday.
Between 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., the A.S. Fortuna Street will be closed for the Traslacion.
This year, the Traslacion, which will start in Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, will pass A.S. Fortuna, left turn to A. Del Rosario Street then right turn to S.B. Cabahug Street, then to the National Shrine of Saint Joseph.
Antigua said A.S. Fortuna and A. Del Rosario will be opened after the procession.
At 1 p.m., Team will once again close A. Del Rosario and a portion of S. B. Cabahug streets for the Panagtagbo Festival street dancing.
The street dancing will start at 4 p.m.
The Panagtagbo festival ritual showdown will be at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.
Traffic congestion will still be experienced in the evening as partygoers are expected to go to Mandaue to join the LifeDance festival at the North Reclamation Area.
LifeDance, which will be held in a lot across Parkmall, will start at 4 p.m. Friday and will end at 4 a.m. of Saturday.
“Ato lang hangyuon atong mga kahigsuonan di lang magsuroy-suroy or di magda of sakyanan,” said Antigua. (FMG/SunStar Cebu)
