The Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao will kick off at the Azuela Cove Alcantara Ayala Land Property in Lanang in Davao City.

Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) Michael Denton "Mikey" Aportadera said three-time Ironman 70.3 champion Timothy "Tim" Reed will be around to better his record and snatch another crown.

Participants will undergo 1.9-kilometer-swim, 90K-bike and 21K-run race.

Aportadera said, "Preparations are good. We are finalizing road closure schedule including the main highway route from Tagum to Davao."

He also said that they have been conducting meetings with neighboring local government units that will be helping out with the first ever staging of the Ironman 70.3 here.

"We have been discussing security and safety of the participants who will pass through outside Davao City municipalities during the bike leg," he added.

They have also been coordinating with Central 911, Philippine National Police, Task Force Davao and Public Safety Command Center and the Philippine Air Force. The latter will lend helicopters for quick transport of triathletes who will need major medical attention although hospitals in Carmen, Panabo and Tagum City will also be ready to cater to their needs.
