Marvil: Panagbenga road closures

THE City Council during last Monday’s regular session has finalized the roads to be closed during the month-long celebration of the 2018 Baguio Flower Festival. It will be remembered that the council has approved during the previous council session the closure of certain roads which were usually being utilized during the conduct of the Pangbenga Festival except for Session Road (from SM Rotunda down to junction Mabini Street), or the area being managed by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. (BFFFI) for the week-long Session Road in Bloom.

The Council, however, clarified that what they have approved is only for the closure of the road. The management or whatever the plan is for that particular area will still have to be deliberated by the said legislative body, which includes the persons or organization who will handle the said area.

Meanwhile the public is advised that aside from Session Road which will be closed from February 25-March 04, 2018, the following roads will also be closed on scheduled dates.

Along South Drive (from entrance of Teacher’s Camp up to Panagbenga Park); from Panagbenga Park to Lower Session Road, Magsaysay Avenue up to intersection fronting the Baguio Center Mall; from the intersection of Harrison Road and lake drive fronting the Baguio Patriotic School on February 01, 2018 from 1AM to 2PM for the Grand Opening Parade and Drum and Lyre Competition.

Burnham Lake Drive (from Ganza Restaurant to Solibao restaurant) and the entire Juan Luna Drive including Lake Drive corner Juan Luna Drive towards PNP Tourist Precinct on January 25-31, 2018 for set-up purposes only and February 01 to March 04, 2018 for the Baguio Blooms and Exhibition and Exposition and Market Encounter.

From South Drive, Military Cut-Off Lower Session, Magsaysay Avenue and Harrison Road on February 24, 2018 from 1AM to 3PM for the Grand Street Parade.

Following Roads and Streets for events on February 25 to March 04, 2018 will be closed immediately after the Grand Float Parade up to midnight of March 04, 2018; Governor Pack Road for the Main Stage, emergency ingress/egress and for garbage collection trucks; Assumption Road, Calderon St., Perfecto St., Fr. Carlo Loop for BBPICAG emergency ingress/egress, for delivery vans of pavilion owners and for garbage trucks; Session Road from junction Mabini Street to Lower Session Road including portions of Assumption Road, Calderon St., and Perfecto St., fronting DBP. However, Mabini Street will be open to traffic the rest of the Panagbenga celebrations.
