Deither Ocampo returns to ABS-CBN

AFTER having been frequently seen on GMA shows, Diether Ocampo finally returns to ABS-CBN via his latest teleserye "Bagani."

He is part of the upcoming fantasy series Bagani, which stars Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. In the full trailer launched Wednesday, February 7, Diether was seen as an immortal god together with another returning Kapamilya actor, Ryan Eigenmann.

Bagani serves as Diether's comeback to doing teleseryes with ABS-CBN, which has been his home since 1993. His last teleserye was the 2016 short-lived series Bakit Manipis Ang Ulap in TV5, while his last drama appearance was for GMA-7's Magpakailanman in May 2017.

Meanwhile, Diether's last appearance with ABS-CBN was a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode in 2014, while his last teleserye was Apoy sa Dagat in 2013. In 2015, Diether was supposed to make a teleserye comeback as one of Judy Ann Santos's leading men in the TV series titled Someone To Watch Over Me. However, the project was shelved due to Judy Ann's pregnancy.

The full trailer of Bagani showed a sneak peek of the love story of Lakas (Enrique) and Ganda (Liza) in an island called San Sinukob.

Lakas works for Dakil (Christian Vazquez), who planned to conquer the land of farmers, and tapped Lakas to fight with them. Lakas later met Ganda, who hails from the region of farmers, and becomes mesmerized with her beauty. Ganda asked Lakas to train them for an impending battle.

Ganda and Lakas eventually formed a strong bond with each other. Lakas even caught Ganda looking at him while he took a bath in a creek.

However, their romance was cut short when Ganda discovered that Lakas belongs to the tribe that aims to conquer their land. The immortal gods, played by Diether and Ryan, witnessed the battle between the two tribes, and sent creatures to scare the people. The trailer also showed fight scenes of Liza and Enrique which required them to execute flying stunts.

Also included in the cast are Makisig Morales, Sofia Andres, and Matteo Guidicelli. Together with Liza and Enrique's characters, they will form a group to fight for the good of the island.

Other actors who will play important roles in the story are Albert Martinez, Dimples Romana, Ana Abad Santos, Precious Lara Quigaman, Emmanuelle Vera, Jana Agoncillo, Robert Seña, and Rayver Cruz.

Aside from featuring battles between tribes, the trailer also showed sweet moments between Liza and Enrique. No airing date has been announced yet for Bagani, which is directed by Richard Arellano and Lester Pimentel.
