A DRUG suspect and his partner were arrested in a drug bust at Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City Friday afternoon, resulting to the recovery of 17 grams of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P225,000.
Police identified the couple as Chargotte de Asis and Regin Tabara, both 28.
De Asis, believed to be a member of Berya drug group, is a high-value target of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Police seized from them six sachets of shabu, a digital weighing scale, and the P1,000 marked money.
Both suspects are detained at Police Station 7.
Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, assistant team leader of City Drug Enforcement Unit, said De Asis was able to distribute illegal drugs in various areas in the city before the operation was conducted.
Albaytar said they learned that De Asis met with a drug courier Friday, but they have yet to determine the source of the illegal drugs.
He added that De Asis has been included in their watchlist since last year.
“We have been continuously monitoring his activities,” Albaytar said.
With the apprehension of the two suspects, Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of BCPO, encouraged the community to continue supporting the local police to make the city peaceful and safe.
An estimated P163,800 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Negros Occidental in the past four days.
On Friday, Joel Limen, 45, of Barangay Sibucao, San Enrique town was arrested in a drug bust around 9 a.m.
He yielded six sachets of shabu weighing 6.9 grams amounting to P82,800 and the P500 marked money.
Noli Dicto, 23, of Bonifacio Kalye Onse, Barangay 2, Silay City, a newly-identified drug personality, was collared in a buy-bust around 7:02 p.m. on Thursday.
Personnel of Silay City Police Station in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Occidental raided Dicto’s house and confiscated from him 23 sachets of shabu worth P19,000, two improvised tooters, the P500 marked money, and P1,200 in cash.
On the same night, two persons were arrested at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.
Police seized from them P35,000 worth of illegal drugs, an improvised tooter, the P200 marked money, and P300 in cash.
Police identified the suspects as target subject Ronnel Dumali, 37, of Purok Masagana, Barangay 6, and Jose Mari Jimera, 33, of Purok Boulevard, Barangay 14.
Also arrested two days ago were Jeremy Banguiran, 24, and John Ray Panaligan, 35, both residents of Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Police seized from both suspects six sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and the P500 marked money.
On Wednesday, Steven Garcia, 45, of Greensville 1, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City was arrested on Lacson Street, Barangay 1, Sipalay City
Police operatives tailed him after receiving a report that a public utility vehicle from Bacolod City was transporting a box containing illegal drugs.
Garcia, who received the box, opened it in the presence of the policemen. It contained a sachet of shabu worth P12,000.
In Manapla town, Helan Magalona, 38, of Barangay 2 was arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay 1-B on the same evening. He is included in the drugs watchlist of Manapla Municipal Police Station.
Police recovered from Magalona four sachets of shabu, and the P500 marked money.
Last Tuesday, PDEA-Western Visayas in coordination with Police Station 2 raided the house of target-subject Edgar Yanson, 32, at Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City around 11 a.m.
Yanson sold shabu to a police agent for P500, but he was able to escape.
Collared were Edalyn Antiporda, 52, and Julius Duhilag, 47, both residents of Barangay 2; Romulo Deopita, 38, of Barangay 3; and Primitivo Mendoza, 43, of Escalante City, who were all caught inside Yanson’s house during the operation.
Police confiscated from the arrested suspects six sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and the P500 marked money.
All four suspects are detained at Police Station 2.
In the evening, personnel of Police Station 4 arrested Guadalupe Arce, 35, of Purok Cereza 1, Barangay 27 at 6:45 p.m. in a drug bust.
He yielded three sachets of shabu worth P15,000, a pouch, and the P500 marked money.
