Leaving you breathless

IF wear there’s a ball ever gown, a perfect prom time would to be a good excuse. You would think films back in the ‘90s that centered on such a theme overplayed it (which they kind of did). In the end, they were on to something because, like any other milestone, it is a big deal.

And just our luck, the Love Month rears its romantic head which makes this season doubly blessed. Designers Bree Esplanada and Jessie Lastimosa create collections that tell of love and Spring time.

Bree’s collection of prom dresses elaborated trails of romance in youthful numbers using silk satin, tulle, chiffon and laces and all things floral.

“I took inspiration from flowers that I usually think someone gives on Valentine’s Day like roses, daises and tulips,” he said, calling the collection Love in Spring. “Since my inspiration are flowers for Valentine’s Day, I used the shape of the petals as silhouette for the whole shape of my designs.”

Meanwhile, Jessie’s collection speaks of movements and fluidity; like a dance with floral trimmings. More than it being a prom collection, it was something new for her that she experimented with.

“Personally, my goal was to create something I hadn’t tried before. Like a ballgown in a very stiff fabric with minimal help inside, but still getting the kind of flare that’s overwhelming and trendy and also doing some draping in a very soft tulle. I’m happy that I achieved it,” she said. “My marsala tea length gown is my fave. It was the hardest to make while the grey one has a nice draping on the neckline and some little laser cuts in flower form.”

Telling it like it is with details, romance and Spring make for a perfect union especially when it’s the source of inspiration for prom dresses that make you feel like you’re wrapped in a lush garden, while wearing your heart on your sleeve.
